International Conference on Gender Studies: “Gender and Crime” 5-6 September 2026 – London/Online organised by London Centre for Interdisciplinary Research The relationship between gender and crime has long been a subject of scholarly interest across a wide range of disciplines. Gender influences how crime is committed, experienced, represented, prosecuted and remembered. It shapes both the realities of criminal behaviour and the social, cultural and institutional responses to it. This international conference invites scholars to examine the link between gender and crime from interdisciplinary perspectives. The event will explore how gender norms, power structures and cultural expectations shape criminal activity, victimisation, justice systems and public discourse. Particular attention will be given to the ways in which gender identities, roles and inequalities intersect with race, class, sexuality, age and other social categories in the context of crime and justice. The conference also seeks to explore how crime and gender are represented in literature, film, media and popular culture, as well as how legal, social and political frameworks respond to gendered experiences of crime. We welcome contributions from a wide range of disciplines, including criminology, sociology, gender studies, law, literature, media studies, history, psychology, anthropology, political science, cultural studies and related fields.
