Welcome to the 9th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture 2022 (ICFA 2022), which will be held in Virtual Platform from the 25th – 26th of August 2022 under the theme “Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture: The Vision, Benefits, Roles, and Responsibilities.” The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared 2022 the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA 2022). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the lead agency for commemorating the Year, in collaboration with other relevant United Nations organizations and bodies. ICFA 2022 is in line with the celebrations, which bring together diverse research and case studies from around the world in parallel sessions, while also providing numerous networking and publishing opportunities in the field, as well as discovering the latest trends and challenges in the field of artisanal fisheries and aquaculture. ICFA 2022 has been designed as a knowledge sharing platform to provide an opportunity to highlight the potential and diversity of small-scale artisanal fisheries and aquaculture, as well as the benefits that can be gained by facilitating partnerships and cooperation with fish farmers, fish workers and also, to achieve the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
